3rd world countries

A 3rd world country is when a country lives in poverty.  One of these countries are Africa. Africa is a very poor country and has very little clean water. Most people in Africa have to walk hours just to get to where the water is, and it's not clean water. People go to the toilet in rivers and clean themselves in the river as well. A lot of people and kids die every day in Africa because of not enough water or they starve to death. New Zealand is a first world country. Although, 1/6 families in New Zealand suffer from poverty.

A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet

A Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet is a famous quote my Shakespeare that was used in the movie Romeo and Juliet, in the 1600's

This is the sentence that Juliet said in the movie:
"Tis but thy name that is my enemy; Thou art thyself, though not a Montague, Whats a Montague? Its not a hand, nora foot, nor a arm, nor a face, nor any other part belonging to man. O, be some other name! whats in a name? That witch we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet; So Romeo call'ed retain that dear perfection which he owes without that tittle. Romeo, doff thy name, and for that name which is no part of thee, take all myself.

She said this at Romeos house because she is trying to say that it doesn't matter that Romeos name is they can still be together.

The meaning of A Rose By Any Other Name Would smell As Sweet is that it doesn't matter what something is called it will still smell at sweet as a rose. It doesn't matter if something is called mud or something you would think it smells nice, it will still smell like a rose.

45 minute Inquiry

Curling has been a Olympic sport since 1998. It started in Scotland in the medieval times. Curling can be played by woman or men. Curling has a few nicknames, such as Chest on Ice or The Roaring Game. In 2006 Curling also became a Paralympic sport, were athletes play in wheelchairs.

The object of the game is to get a big heavy stone called a curling stone, to the other end of the lane and into a target, your points depend on where on the target your curling stone lands.

There are 4 players in a team, but only 3 are curling at once. One player pushes the ball at the start and then there are 2 sweepers that sweep the ice to guide the curling stone down the lane and onto the target. Each team gets 8 stones each.

The equipment you use in Curling are 2 brooms called curling brooms. The stone is a curling stone and you have to wear special shoes called curling shoes witch I think are to stop you from sliding

The Impossible
Director: Juan Antonio Bayona

Producers: Enrique López lavigne, Belen Atienza and Alaro Augustin

Rating: 85% of people liked this movie.

Information: In October 11th, 2012 The Impossible came out in
Spain, then slowly came out over the world.

Main character: The main characters are Naomi Watts (Maria), Ewan Mcgregor (Henry), Tom Holland (Lucas).

The movie is about when a family goes on holiday for Christmas in Thailand but they get caught in the Indian Ocean Tsunami. The Family gets split apart and badly hurt. Do they ever get out alive? Will they find each other?  Watch The Impossible to find out.

My opinion:
I really liked this movie. I felt like I was actually there living the disaster. I wouldn't recommend it to younger audiences as it can be very violence and there is a lot of blood and guts in it.
I rate this movie 4/5

T.G.C orientation day

Today all of the year 8 girl from Tauranga Intermediate School and from other schools went to Tauranga Girls Collage for an orientation day. We got there on the bus and came into the old gym were the deputy principle Mrs Ferguson, the year 9 deans and the head girl for 2014.

After that we were put into groups with T.G.C girls, they took us on a tour around the school and showed us were the classrooms were and answered any of our questions.

I am not really nervous about going to T.G.C because I know I might be with some of my friends and there are more opportunities that I can choose from witch I would like to do. What I am nervous is about is that I might get lost and not be able to find my classroom on the first couple of days.
This is us in the old gym.
