Rimu House Swimming Sports

On Friday 22nd March Rimu House had their first swimming day.....

We all left at 9:00 am and started to walk down to Memorial Park. It was a hot day and we all couldn't wait to go for a swim. Once Rimu House had finally got there we got into it straight away. First went all of the year 7 girls then the year 7 boys following after that was the year 8 girls and the year 8 boys.

Unfortunately I couldn't do it because I had hurt my foot but my job was to hand out the 2nd place sticks to the people who came 2nd in each race. Though I would've loved to go for a swim I had heaps of fun cheering people on and handing out placings. The highlight of my day was when room 42 won the class relay.

Swimming events were:  

25m freestyle, 25m breaststroke, 25m backstroke 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 25m doggy paddle, dolphin dive and the underwater race.

 Three things I have learned are....

1. Water cycle, how it rains the it get evaporated by the sun and forms clouds that rain it back down again.
2. Upload a video to You tube.
3. Use imovie to make a video.

Two benefits of working with a partner are...

1. You can share ideas and get a good opinion.
2. You can socialize with people you havent before.

 One difficulty that I overcame is...

 1. My difficulty was uploading my video to you tube and now I know how to do it.

Excellence in the Arts: Learn an instrument.

Every Tuesday afternoon at 4:30pm, I go to piano lessons in Welcome Bay. My teachers name is Tim and he has his own recording studio were he records New Zealands singers albums in. I am in grade one and nearly grade two so I am a beginner.

I am going to be playing in a concert at the Historic Village hall. I will be playing on a grand piano.

I have been at T.I.S for one month so far....

I have been at T.I.S for one month so far. I am in Miss Campbell's class. During maths we have been doing BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, addition and Subtraction) It has been really fun to do but also very challenging at times. We have just begun our reading, at the moment the class is doing probe test to see what age we are reading at, at the moment I am reading at a age 12.5 hoping to be a age 13 soon. Writing has been my favorite. lately the class has been concentrating on All summer and a day. When the human race has been moved to planet venus to set up civilization. Our first class we did was we had to make a picture using other pictures of what the planet Venus would look like. Once that was done we made a twitter page. We had to read 5 bits of the story the describe each part of them using only 10 Words. The 3rd task I have just finished I had to write a 300 word prologue to All Summer In a Day. I haven’t been involved in a lot of sport lately due to my ankle but I have seen how it is a lot of fun!
tomorrow we start tech I can’t wait till we go. I can’t wait to see what more this year will bring me.
